About the Job

I am looking for a Producer to collaborate with on to obtain funding for ‘Ohm’, an independent feature film project in final draft script stage.

Ohm is a thriller that follows the life of a happy four-year-old girl from the north-eastern rural region of Isaan, Thailand as she moves with her young mother Mae to Samut Sakhorn, a heavily polluted industrial area of West Bangkok, to work a food cart in the market streets of Om Noi. At eighteen and after Mae is diagnosed with cancer, Ohm takes up the offer to work bar with her best friend Nee in the idyllic seaside village of Lamai, on the beautiful island of Koh Samui. Here she meets Mike Reynolds, a charismatic businessman from Australia and after a world-wind romance, Ohm travels to Sydney with Mike on the promise of a better life, and to finally be able to support her ailing mother. Although, once in Sydney, Ohm soon finds herself being rented out to Mike's business associates to help pay his heavy gambling debts. Until after yet another night of abuse, Ohm stabs Mike with a well-hidden kitchen knife and flees in his tired convertible.

Ohm breaks down in rural NSW, an area that reminds her of her homeland. She's finally alone and she feels safe but as the night and the cold of winter draws in, Ohm seeks help at a remote farm cottage. Here she meets Mort(20), a seemingly mentally and physically isolated stranger living alone. Mort helps repair Ohm's car and she stays the night. It's the first time Ohm has met a man her own age and it's the first time Mort has had a friend of his own. That is until EJ, the local cop who had been investigating a missing person's case finds out, then Ohm's dream come true soon turns into a nightmare.
